This Plot was originally purchased by Motheo TVET College to accommodate the farming implements previously housed at Thaba Nchu Campus that was earmarked for Agricultural training. The story however, developed into something very special.

An Orchard with thirty fruit trees was planted.

With the development of the Plot the idea was to be as far as possible self sustainable. Bricks and a concrete slabs were needed and therefore the manufacturing of bricks started.

The same bricks were used for the construction of a Broiler house where training was offered in Poultry (broilers).

A vegetable garden was necessary to offer courses in Vegetable Crop production and an area from the Orchard to the end of the plot was identified for this Vegetable garden. A 5 000 liter water tank was erected. A unique dripping system that works with gravity from the 5000l water tank supply was implemented. All construction and installation was done by staff and students from Motheo TVET College.

Motheo TVET College had a Mini Agriculture day with the aim to bring the suppliers of farming equipment and products to the community. This first and very successful attempt was well presented by suppliers and attended by small and upcoming farmers.

A Potato project was also launched. With a donation of 35 pockets of Potato seed from Potato South Africa and the assistance of Glen Agriculture College, an exhibition was held to demonstrate how to plant Potatoes the correct way.

The remaining area of land was used for Oats production. The idea is to train small farmers to farm not only on irrigated land but on dry land as well due to the low water table in the area. With the assistance of SENWES the soil was first analysed and recommendations made on what cultivar and fertilizers to use.
